0 The Killing' season 3 plotline

Last year, AMC's The Killing came back from the dead. After being cancelled by AMC after a lackluster second season and viewer backlash regarding the protracted mystery, it was announced that Netflix had partnered with AMC to save the show. A twelve-episode third season is now being planned, and it looks like showrunner Veena Sud has learned from her past mistakes. The third season's storyline looks like it will be a self-contained one, which is reassuring news. Here's the synopsis for The Killing season 3: "A year after closing the Rosie Larsen case, Sarah Linden is no longer a detective. But when her ex-partner Stephen Holder’s search for a runaway girl leads him to discover a gruesome string of murders that connects to a previous murder investigation by Linden, she is drawn back into the life she thought she’d left behind." It's pretty standard, as far as police show storylines go, but I find myself hoping that it's enough to save The Killing's reputation -- with detractors starting with legitimate concerns and then resorting to just piling-on. Here's what Veena Sud had to say about season 3: “I couldn’t be happier to know that I will be returning to work with AMC, FTVS and Mireille and Joel on what is and has always been a passion project for me. To the fans that have supported the series, thank you for doing so. My team and I will work hard to deliver the best story that we can for Season 3.” Sounds exciting enough. The Killing season 3 will kick off in May. Are you excited?
